You put a chill across my face like the air of December. I swear I remember it that way.

Me (singing with the radio in the car on the way home from school): We’ll have lots of fun with Mr. Snowman, until the other kiddies knock him down!!!

Meredith: Yeah, I don’t get it.

Me: You don’t get what?

Meredith: I don’t understand why they have so many cats in their yard.

Me: What?

Meredith: The cats that are going to knock down the snowman.

Me: Really?

Meredith: What?

This afternoon I finished bedecking a hat for a toddler and as a result, I’m 100% dipped in Christmas spirit. (Until the cats show up and start screwing with everything.)

  1. Yes! Great hat. Old ladies would like to wear that hat, too. I mean, er, I’m speaking for a friend.

Meredith is cerebral. Really smart people sometimes hear things too literally. I’m on her side.

  2. My middle son is 34 years old, and when he was school aged, he also thought the line was “until the other kitties knock it down”. Isn’t that a great visual, though?

  3. I have never heard this before about the kitties knocking down Mr. Snowman, but it is now the most awesome visual inside my head. Speaking of visuals. We need pictures of these babies with trees and turkeys on their heads.

  4. I love that Edie Brickell song. Heck, I love that whole album. Congrats on finishing such a spectacular hat!

  5. An allegedly-legit website exists that purports that lyric to be:

We’ll have lots of fun with Mr. Snowman
Until the alligators knock him down

  6. I am so loving these hats. And I agree with Cindy…must see pictures of babies modeling them.

On another note, I think the snowmen are safe from the kitties; however, the Christmas tree is another matter altogether.

  7. Just yesterday my very bright son asked what a Soapin Sleigh was.

You know. A one whore Soapin sleigh

Am more than relieved he did not ask what a whore was.
