Infinite Jest Highlights

What follows are the items I have loved and highlighted as I read Infinite Jest:

O. says he can only remember (sic) saying something caustic as he limboed a crick out of his back.

I am concentrating docilely on the question why U.S. restrooms always appear to us as infirmaries for public distress, the place to regain control.

…impressive collection of Tito Puente recordings…

…squeezing honey from the head of a plastic bear.

Roaches give him the howling fantods.

…the stuff of f—ing nightmares, mobile flying roaches that wanted to get at your eyes as an infant…

I am simultaneously fascinated and sad that you’re enjoying this book. While I read it all I could think was oh, oh, oh David Foster Wallace (RIP) it’s such a “writer’s writer” exercise in onanism. I guess I’m on my own here though. Still heart you bunches.

Jest was my first venture into DFW’s writing. Sakina, I am WITH you! I can’t imagine spending time on another Wallace book.
I joined a book club this year. Stunned to see that ours read an almost identical list to FP’s! Also added the first Twilight, the sappy Marley and Me. We are women ages 25 – 60, greatly diverse interests and careers.

How do I sign up for your feed? I don’t see a sign up button or a newsletter subscription space and in reading through some of your reviews and posts… YOU ROCK!

P.S. I goofed and posed a tweet link on your DiGiorno contest. Could you please delete the tweet link post… that particular giveaway didn’t list extra entries for tweets, it was my goof. As my niece would say… my sorry! : (
