You can eat off of our dishes!

This is a compensated review from BlogHer and Samsung Home Appliances.

Edited to Add: The contest is now over! Congratulations, Betty N.!

A few months back, we noticed that our dishwasher was showing signs of an early departure. Her insides were old and rusting, she often refused to run when she was loaded, and she sometimes puked dirty water all over our kitchen floor in the middle of the night. For the longest time, we simply looked away and hoped that she would wise up and fix herself. When we noticed that she was getting worse instead of better, we were slightly worried, but mostly sickened. It was time to give her the boot.

Shortly thereafter, the angels sang. “Angelaaaaaaa, we need a dishwasher reviewer!” (BlogHer timing is impeccable.)

Faster than you can say “digital water leakage sensor,” I obtained a quote, received a gift card to cover the expenses, and ordered the dishwasher. It was installed yesterday, and it is lovely.

front

The first thing I noticed about the Samsung dishwasher is that the upper rack height is fully adjustable, meaning our circular pizza pan can now rest comfortably in the bottom rack without us having to spend ten minutes wrestling with the top rack to help it “jump” the pan. (Seriously. This has been an ongoing issue for us. And you might say something like, “Well, you probably could have hand washed that pizza pan in two minutes, thereby magically adding an extra eight minutes to your day!” You clearly don’t think like a Pudding, do you?) Anyway, adjustable upper rack? I adore it.

On a similar note, do you remember back in college when you signed on to live with someone and then you spent months trying to figure out the least offensive place to put your beanbag chair? In my mind, you sort of have to do the same thing with a new dishwasher. Do the utensils face upward or downward? Do the bowls prefer upper or lower placement? Where can I stick all of those silly little plastic containers I use when I have a few left over green beans? The Samsung makes it easy. First of all, the user manual comes with a schematic that features several different arrangement possibilities. AND, because every single tine and basket is adjustable and removable, I was able to customize the dishwasher to be completely forgiving of our weirdo dishes. (And that might sound silly to you, but when the sun is down and I just want to load up the dishwasher before hitting the bricks, ease is key.)

open

The “hidden” control panel and digital display on the Samsung are not only very convenient and simple to use, they’re swanky. And when you turn the power button on? The “BedooWhee!” chime that greets you is, well, sort of adorable.

control paneldigital display

We powered up the dishwasher for the first time last night, and its word is Mum. In fact, I continued to check on it just to make sure it was still running. Our previous dishwasher, may she rest in peace, would jolt the entire house as she switched from the wash to the rinse cycle. The Samsung does not jolt. It doesn’t even blink. It just sort of stands there looking pretty and cleaning the heck out of your dishes.

I love this dishwasher. And I know you’re not supposed to love an object, but I firmly believe the Samsung falls into the “If loving you is wrong, I don’t want to be right” category.

Side note: Last night I had a dream during which I used the new dishwasher as a panic room when things were particularly hectic in the house. Imagine the possibilities, indeed.

I would love the washer machine. Mine is 10 years old and not a front loader. Would love to save water.

  • 2 Lisa C. // Oct 5, 2009 at 7:53 pm

Fridge (RFG297AARS) is definately my favorite, with 3 teenagers, I need a new fridge!

  • 3 Melanie // Oct 5, 2009 at 7:57 pm

i would LOVE a new refrigerator! ours is too small and just plain old!

  • 4 Sarah // Oct 5, 2009 at 7:57 pm

I would LOVE the new oven!!!

  • 5 Carole // Oct 5, 2009 at 7:58 pm

I would have to say the washer/dryer…My husband creates oodles of laundry (he’s a Harley mechanic) and I have a terrible time getting his crazy stains out – not to mention the kids’ laundry!

  • 6 Julie Houser // Oct 5, 2009 at 7:59 pm

I LOVE the fridge, but will have to go with the Dishwasher (DMR78AHS)as I don’t have a dishwasher and haven’t for years.

  • 7 Deb Sarhan // Oct 5, 2009 at 7:59 pm

I really, really NEED a new dishwasher. The only appliance I had ever purchased brand new was a Bosch dishwasher, and sadly, when we sold our home 4 years ago, the dishwasher went with the house. The house we moved into had a dishwasher. It’s not a Bosch, it’s not a Samsung, I don’t think it’s really a dishwasher – it’s a big box IMPERSONATING a dishwasher. It makes all the noise that a dishwasher used to make back in the day, so that you knew it was hard at work. It rattles around the dishes, so you think the water is hitting them hard. The little tray that is supposed to hold the soap doesn’t open or close – it’s either or, not both, so I throw a tablet in and hope for the best. Did I mention I wash the dishes before I put them in “the dishwasher”? Oh, and I have to dry them when they come out. With 4 kids, I wash and dry lots of dishes so that “the dishwasher” can pretend to be a dishwasher. Just think of all the fun things I could be doing instead …. like laundry ! and ironing ! and maybe, just maybe, spending a little time with the best hubby in the world !

    my dishwasher- it’s dead!!!

  • 9 Alison // Oct 5, 2009 at 8:02 pm

Love the looks of that dishwasher, but I’d vote for a new fridge!

  • 10 Maureen // Oct 5, 2009 at 8:10 pm

We desperately need a new (and preferably shiny!) fridge. Our old one is noisy, inefficient and we have completely given up on the ice maker. Oh, did I mention it is ugly, too? Yes, a new shiny fridge would be fabulous! If I win the $200 that is just what I might put it towards!

  • 11 Barbara // Oct 5, 2009 at 8:12 pm

We really REALLY need a new washing machine! Ours is old and it leaks! The Samsung one looks awesome too.

  • 12 Andrea // Oct 5, 2009 at 8:16 pm

I would have to go with the new refrigerator. Would love a new one with ice and water in the door.

  • 13 Mocha // Oct 5, 2009 at 8:19 pm

Well, if I’m going to imagine possibilities then I’ll have to save my poor, old eyes and wish for a monitor for my office so I can stop reading off this super teeny tiny laptop.

But that’s only if I’m wishing.

But hey! I hope someone else wins and gets just what they need. I just couldn’t help but comment. What an awesome contest, Angela!

    xoxo

oh my goodness. Is it bad that I am a little turned on after seeing those pictures of your dishwasher. Our dishwasher is too on it’s last leg. horrible. i have to rinse out every glass whenever I want something to drinkm which just kind of makes it pointless I guess.

mmmm clean dishes with no dishpan hands!

  • 15 Rhonda Phillips // Oct 5, 2009 at 8:30 pm

I could definitely use a new fridge! The ice maker and water dispenser no longer work on the one I have. Would love to have them back!

  • 16 kat // Oct 5, 2009 at 8:44 pm

oh how i hate renting and having the cheapest appliances possible. i’m totally jealous.

  • 17 Mitzi // Oct 5, 2009 at 8:45 pm

The appliance that we really need to replace is our washing machine. It’s old, leaks, and randomly bores small h0les into an item or two of clothing. Laundry is my least favorite chore, but maybe with a new washing machine, it could become more tolerable.

  • 18 MG // Oct 5, 2009 at 8:47 pm

I would LOVE to get a new dishwasher. Your review made me covet that beautiful Samsung, oh yes, it did.

  • 19 Nichole // Oct 5, 2009 at 8:51 pm

The only appliances we own are a washer and a dryer, but my brother the homeowner doesn’t have a dishwasher in his sad old kitchen. I’d like to give him one. Rather, I’d like Best Buy to give me some money. For my brother. Of course.

  • 20 Jen // Oct 5, 2009 at 8:51 pm

I need the fridge! Mine is really old and very inefficient. It’s running all the time just to keep things cool. The Samsung fridge would be perfect!

  • 23 elizabeth // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:04 pm

Oh, god, the refrigerator. We moved into a new rental, gave our old fridge away because the new place had one, and the landlord has been completely unresponsive regarding the fact that half the shelves are broken and unusable and the freezer and refrigerator like to be about the same temperature. And I’m the only person in the extended family who cooks for the holidays.

That dishwasher, by the way, is stunning.

  • 24 MemeGRL // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:05 pm

Oh my. I know coveting is a sin, but I am, in fact, coveting the oven. But my dishwasher is dying and you make me think maybe I should be practical and replace what’s actually broken!

  • 25 Carrie // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:05 pm

I want a gas range. I have a ceramic-top electric that came with the house and I can’t get it clean and it takes forever to cool down and I am always petrified a cat is going to jump up and burn itself on the hot surface while trying to get at whatever I’m cooking (they do that sometimes). I have one of their cell phones, butI didn’t realize that Samsung made kitchen appliances. Score one for their blog advertising, I guess.

  • 26 jana // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:10 pm

Well, I rent, so replacing appliances is not really my responsibility (and who wants to invest in a shiny, covetable appliance for a rental property?). Is it cheating, then, to say that I’d love an external hard drive, like Samsung’s HD153UI? I have a ton of photos and documents stored on my shaky, shifty laptop, and my husband’s a poet. An external hard drive would ease our minds incredibly.

  • 27 Jaynee // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:11 pm

New fridge here, too! We have had some major issues with fruit going bad within a day or two of putting it in the fruit drawer! We’ve adjusted the levels time and again, to no avail. It’s a 12 year old fridge, and I just think it needs to be replaced completely so we can have fresh fruit in the house again!

  • 28 Jenny // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:12 pm

My dishwasher is terrible, I would love a new one.

  • 29 Connie // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:12 pm

I need, need, need the dishwasher. I am in serious covet for your new one.

  • 30 dr. dave // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:12 pm

I would have said fridge, but i think I just fell in love with your dishwasher a little. It’s the *quiet*!

  • 31 Stephanie // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:17 pm

I would love the Washer. Our washer and dryer work are about to die and the high-capacity would be great as we get ready to start a family!

  • 32 ladiebuglane // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:19 pm

We are in a dire need of a new fridge so I would be hitting that one up :)

  • 33 Kathy G // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:21 pm

Our range is pushing twenty years old. Two of the burners only work when they feel like it, which is getting to be less and less often.

  • 34 Meredith // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:23 pm

I’m with you…my current dishwasher shakes the house when it’s running, so I have to start it when we’re on our way out the door. Since we have a new baby, our dishwasher runs every day now, and we desperately need a new one!

I enjoyed reading your review very much. Thanks for being so thorough.

  • 35 Betsy // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:27 pm

A stove! Oh, please, a new stove!! Ours heats so unevenly that my pancakes look like moon phase diagrams.

  • 36 Donna // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:35 pm

That dishwasher makes me jealous. As much as I would love a new one, we really need a new refrigerator more. Ours is old, too small, and we have an ongoing battle with the ice maker. It works, but ice will not leave the freezer without coercion.

  • 37 Leslie // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:39 pm

I would love the washer and dryer. They are much fancier than I could ever afford.

  • 38 Jenzebub // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:39 pm

Giving me a lovely, side-by-side, stainless steel fridge would bring peace in the Middle East. How? It’s not for me to know. It’s just something the OverSoul whispered to me, so I take it at face value. Who am I to question?

  • 39 Kristy Chudley // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:39 pm

I love the refrigerator!!! ( Fridge (RFG297AARS)) Our old side-by-side is tiny. And the icemaker doesn’t work.

  • 40 JB // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:40 pm

The dishwasher, definitely. Our current one is 36 years old (my husband) and is ready to retire from duty.

  • 41 Shaleena // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:41 pm

    The fridge would be AMAZING!!

  • 42 No Minimom // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:41 pm

OK, our fridge? Makes and dispenses ice INSIDE the freezer. There’s no handy dandy external ice dispenser or water dispenser. We’re talking old school: Plain white with a very small freezer compartment, half of which is taken up with the aforementioned ice maker. We would love love love to have a new refrigerator.

  • 43 Karen J // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:41 pm

I would love to have the dryer!!

  • 44 Carey // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:45 pm

Oh so many things I need. My frost free refrigerator – not always frost free. My dishwasher – takes forever and sounds like it’s giving birth. Plus I won’t put any of my “good” glasses in it because it etches (I think that’s what it’s called) them and the front cover panel sometimes falls off. And I’d love a nice flat panel monitor instead of the huge clunker that I have!

  • 45 Cecilia // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:45 pm

I would love to replace all my appliances with those Samsungs. They are lovely! But I would definitely start with the fridge.

  • 46 joe // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:45 pm

I’m glad you have found a wonderful addition to your kitchen. You’re probably already wondering how in the world you got along without your new dishwasher.
For me, I would love washer/dryer. I just moved and while I have the hookups, I am sans washer/dryer and I had to trek to a laundromat to get the clothes done. The cost of doing a load of laundry has gone way up since I last visited a laundromat. And they don’t even take quarters anymore. You load up your money on a card and use it. Can’t say I’m a fan. Having my own would sure help with the multitasking around the house.

  • 47 Lynda // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:45 pm

I actually need all of them but my fridge is my oldest appliance at 19 years old. I would love the fridge!

  • 48 Sara N // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:46 pm

We would LoVe a non-smelly washing machine!

  • 49 Chris G // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:47 pm

My mom got a dishwasher with the hidden controls – looks so nice. But I’m voting for the fridge – I need one!

  • 53 Valerie // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:52 pm

My current semi-broken Samsung tv needs to be replaced with a newer, non-broken one. Wait, can I sneak a dig at a company while entering their contest?? ;) (to be fair, I loved my tv for 3 years until it got weird stripeys at the top of the screen)

  • 54 Haus // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:53 pm

We would love to replace our 10 yr old electric range with a gas stove!

  • 55 Kizz // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:54 pm

I actually fear that my dishwasher is slowly giving up the ghost. It doesn’t seem to be draining all the way and that cycle change clunk seems to be getting louder and louder. That can’t bode well, right?

  • 56 shannon // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:55 pm

My refrigerator is almost as old as me! yikes. It’s time for a new one!

  • 57 Suzan // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:55 pm

Living in a rental house means having to accept the landlord’s idea of “furnished appliances,” probably the same appliances they’ve been furnishing for 16-20 years. I’d kill for either a new washer/dryer or a glass-top stove.

  • 58 Maren Madsen // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:56 pm

Oooh boy – I need a new dishwasher as well! Ours doesn’t work well and is LOUD. Seriously LOUD. What? What?!

  • 59 Annette D // Oct 5, 2009 at 9:58 pm

I would love to have a dishwasher too! The DMR77LHS would be fantastic. My dishwasher is on it last legs!

  • 60 Julie // Oct 5, 2009 at 10:01 pm

Dishwasher, dishwasher, dishwasher! My kitchen is carpeted (what?! not my choice!) and the current dishwasher spews water all over the floor. Soggy carpet ain’t really all that fun, so I hand wash everything and use the dishwasher to store pots and pans.

  • 61 Andrea // Oct 5, 2009 at 10:02 pm

I could absolutely do with a new washer and dryer!! Being a college student living with three other girls (who all do 2-3 loads of laundry every other week) and old washers and dryers, our bill is much larger than we wish it to be. With new washer and dryer we would be able to reduce the amount of loads of laundry and with that neat silver care cycle, we would have a smaller utilities bill!!

  • 62 Taty // Oct 5, 2009 at 10:03 pm

I would love to have a new Samsung stove!
I can’t wait to use the rapid cleaning system.
Definitively the family will have a happier mom!!
Thanks for the opportunity, can’t wait to have my new stove in place, come her GC!!!

  • 63 Barbara S. // Oct 5, 2009 at 10:04 pm

It is not a hard discussion for me.
Fridge the (RFG297AARS) model to be exact.
Hubby and I have had this discussion last week in fact. All the appliances in our rental townhouse came with the place and I have no idea how old they are. Lets just say I have tried to find owner manuals for them online…..found nothing.

  • 66 Carrie // Oct 5, 2009 at 10:09 pm

I’m with Valerie, I would like Samsung to replace the dead Samsung television we just had to put by the curb last week. It had such a short life– one year of often use and then two years of hardly any use at all. But I loved the way it sang to me when I turned it off and on. I miss that.

  • 67 Kelsey Kim // Oct 5, 2009 at 10:11 pm

I want that dishwasher!! So I don’t have to wait until I’m leaving to run mine because it’s so deafening….

  • 72 tortoiseshelly // Oct 5, 2009 at 10:30 pm

I’m envious! I never have lucky timing like that.

That being said, I could definitely use a washer.

  • 73 Kara // Oct 5, 2009 at 10:31 pm

I need a new vacuum. Does that count as an appliance? Does Samsung do vacuums? No, well, hmm. I have an apartment. The only appliance I own is a microwave, which could use a cleaning. Although at this point it might be easier to replace it instead of cleaning it. (Lazy called, she wants her magic eraser back). Right. I also need a blender.

*sigh* I would love a dishwasher, but again, there’s that pesky apartment thing. Will Samsung buy me a house then furnish the appliances for it? Because that would be AWESOME. (I kid.)

What if the random number generator thingy happens to pick the same person for more than one giveaway? What do you do then?

  • 74 Angie N // Oct 5, 2009 at 10:32 pm

A new refridgerator would be great.

  • 75 Liza // Oct 5, 2009 at 10:34 pm

Well, since I’m renting my house and the appliances are fairly new (except for the fridge, which is just small and sad) and work well, or not really, but they’re not mine in the “mine mine” sense, what would be most delightful for us would be one of those big freezers for the garage. I have a yearning to go to Costco and buy 15 lbs of chicken thighs, but the fridge/freezer, well, see above, she is small. And sad.

  • 76 Laura M. // Oct 5, 2009 at 10:36 pm

We need a new dishwasher. Ours also shudders and grinds like you wouldn’t believe. We can hear the motor roar on the other side of the house. It’s become picky about when it will adequately clean our dishes. And it’s so loud, it now terrorizes our new dog whose crate is nearby. He cowers down whenever we turn it on. Poor thing!

  • 77 Meg T. // Oct 5, 2009 at 10:40 pm

with a curious two year old that wants to “hehwup mommy” you had me at “hidden control panel”
And although the dishwasher sounds tempting the washer and dryers are calling my name. Clothes that dry in one cycle? sign me up!

  • 78 Ree // Oct 5, 2009 at 10:47 pm

We recently replaced our dishwasher (and are just finishing the same awkward “where do I put my beanbag” phase you talk about)…and the Samsung bottom freezer fridge is beautiful. BUT I spend my life doing laundry, so i think the washer/dryer would make my life easier. A lot easier. Also, they’re pretty.

  • 79 Lisa W. // Oct 5, 2009 at 10:47 pm

    Definitely the Dishwasher (DMR78AHS).

  • 80 EJ // Oct 5, 2009 at 10:47 pm

A tough decision but think it would have to be the washer.

  • 81 beyond // Oct 5, 2009 at 10:57 pm

  • 82 Farmwife // Oct 5, 2009 at 11:01 pm

Oh wow. I would sooo love a new dishwasher. My poor ol girl is about ready to give up the ghost as well. :(((

  • 83 Julie B. // Oct 5, 2009 at 11:07 pm

I vote for the microwave. WE’ll be moving soon and I expect the old one to stay here with new buyers…but if we stayed it would definitely be a new fridge!

  • 84 Robynn // Oct 5, 2009 at 11:18 pm

Just what I need, a new diswasher. I will be looking at these dishwasher after reading your review.

  • 85 Jessica // Oct 5, 2009 at 11:21 pm

I would love the new Samsung fridge! Gorgeous!

  • 86 Pogonia // Oct 5, 2009 at 11:25 pm

Wow! I need this a WHOLE bunch! :) I especially love how quiet it sounds.

  • 87 Saige // Oct 5, 2009 at 11:26 pm

I have to say I would definitely choose the fridge. Ours is an older model and I am constantly re-arranging it to get all of our food to fit. And we shop on a budget and keep the fridge clean, so it’s not like I’m packing in food that we never use. It’s annoying and with our growing family, it would be WONDERFUL to have more space… AHHHH…..

My fridge isn’t broken, unfortunately. But it is too small and for a girl with a bad back, it stinks to get on my knees to get something out. I love the Samsung split door fridge with the freezer drawer on the bottom. Sheer genius!

  • 93 Josh // Oct 6, 2009 at 12:23 am

Totally need to replace my washer and dryer. This would go a long way towards that cost. Must say, however, that dishwasher is wicked cool!

  • 98 Ranee @ Arabian Knits // Oct 6, 2009 at 2:13 am

The dryer. Hands down. We need a new one, we have a family of eight. ‘Nuff said.

  • 100 Jude // Oct 6, 2009 at 5:49 am

Wow, I thought I wanted the stove. Then I thought I wanted the refrigerator. But now that I’ve seen that wonderful dishwasher…does it make coffee, too?

  • 101 Kerry // Oct 6, 2009 at 6:13 am

That dishwasher is gorgeous!!! Though, the fridge is my dream appliance. Ours is soooooooooo ugly, covered in dents and dings and rusted all around the water dispenser – Huge EYE SORE! It is soooooooooo small too and it just doesn’t work for a growing family of five! All ten fingers crossed right now!

  • 102 Christine // Oct 6, 2009 at 6:49 am

I would love a new washer.

  • 103 Meredith // Oct 6, 2009 at 6:53 am

I’m torn between the fridge and the dishwasher. Both of mine are in dire need of replacement. But I’ll probably have to go with the fridge. A kid alarm in it for when they’ve been browsing too long! Jeez, that’s awesome. Even if the dishwasher is super pretty…

  • 104 Tricia L. // Oct 6, 2009 at 6:55 am

Easily a Range Electric!!! We moved into a house 2 years ago where everything is 20-30 years old, the furnace, hot water heater, stove, and refrigerator plus us 20 year old roof is leaking! All of our money is going into the roof at this point. But I love baking/cooking, and our gas oven cooks things unevenly…depending on the day it will under cook things or when I want to bake of course it will burn my cakes, brownies, and breads.

  • 105 Tracy Williams // Oct 6, 2009 at 7:01 am

I would love to have the washer!!! It would make my life so much easier since my washer is on its last leg. Only one cycle still works and it barely makes it through one load without my help. Plus, how beautiful are the stainless steel washers!!!

  • 106 Lisa // Oct 6, 2009 at 7:12 am

I would love a new washer. It’s small capacity is just not cost efficient.

  • 107 Betsy // Oct 6, 2009 at 7:13 am

  • 112 Amy S // Oct 6, 2009 at 7:35 am

    What a generous giveaway!

We totally need the Dishwasher (DMR78AHS). Ours is really old, doesn’t wash efficiently and really rings up the energy bill for us. We usually just hand wash, because it’s cheaper. If we had a new dishwasher, though, we’d definitely use it more!

  • 113 Michele // Oct 6, 2009 at 7:36 am

I need a new washing machine. If I dont win, then my washer needs an Exorcism.

I have dishwasher envy so bad now. I feel like a 50’s housewife. I wonder if Betty Draper ever has appliance envy?

  • 114 EG // Oct 6, 2009 at 7:37 am

  • 115 liz // Oct 6, 2009 at 7:40 am

That dishwasher is making me drool. Our dishwasher came with the house. Almost 11 years ago. It’s OK, but a new one would be sooooo much nicer. Especially one that didn’t make me have to wash the dishes before dishwashing the dishes.

I could really use the dishwasher!! Dishwasher (DMR78AHS)
Ours is so loud, and unless we wash our dishes first I can’t really say that they would come out clean. This diswasher(DMR78AHS)looks like it would be great with the flexible loading option for washing all types of dishes, like parts from my crockpot!!! Thanks for this giveaway, it is truly awesome!!

  • 121 RB // Oct 6, 2009 at 8:16 am

Washing machine, washing machine, washing machine. They threw our current one in at closing on our house. It’s fine, but small and uses a lot of water. A front loader would be awesome.

  • 122 Donna // Oct 6, 2009 at 8:16 am

Way too hard to choose. All my appliances are so old, just got a portable dishwasher this year, first new appliance!! But a fridge would be GREAT!!!

A new dishwasher would be SO nice. All of our appliances came with the house 20 years ago (and they weren’t new then), and since we’ve just spent too much money fixing up the upstairs, I can guarantee that the appliances are going to start dying in quick order.

  • 147 Traci // Oct 6, 2009 at 9:16 am

I’m thinking the dishwasher… Our home was built in the 80’s and I think all the appliance are quite noisy… Something about a quiet dishwasher sounds appealing and perhaps I could even do dishes in the middle of the night without fear of waking the family! :o)

My husband and I could REALLY use a new dishwasher… ours is cheap, old, rarely gets dishes clean even with pre-washing, and with a baby on the way we could really use something that actually gets hot enough to sterilize dishes (ours doesn’t)!

  • 158 Sara // Oct 6, 2009 at 9:58 am

The dishwasher, ABSOLUTELY would be my choice. We don’t have one, and it would make washing dishes so much easier and faster. Then we could have time for other things in the evening!

  • 159 Amy in KC // Oct 6, 2009 at 10:02 am

We just replaced our dishwasher three weeks ago. They delivered it to our house, we unpacked it and discovered that not all dishwashers come with attached power cords. Then (and I am totally not making this up) I went to the store, purchased an installation kit, and replaced all the hoses and wired the dishwasher. I KNOW!

And now I need a new refrigerator, because the one we have has never liked us, and is getting noisier and noisier (literally) about it.

  • 160 heidi // Oct 6, 2009 at 10:04 am

  • 164 Megan // Oct 6, 2009 at 10:21 am

Wow. I could use the washer, dryer, and fridge! But my number one choice would be the dishwasher (DMR78AHS). Between working full time, doing research for my Masters, TAing, seeing my husband, and taking care of the house, washing dishes is usually the last chore I do.

  • 171 Becky // Oct 6, 2009 at 10:58 am

OMG, we could really use a new stove. Ours is original to the house (15+ years) and is an awful eyesore. It cooks ok, I think I mastered doinking with the controls to get the heat that I need, but the over is worthless for anything beyond baking a casserole, and even that has to be closely monitored. We sprung for a new fridge this spring, the old one was also original and couldn’t keep milk cold enough to not spoil, so it had to be the priority. A new matching stove would make my year!!!

  • 172 Kate // Oct 6, 2009 at 11:00 am

Pardon my drool- I am in complete dishwasher-lust right now. Did your old dishwasher have any siblings? ‘Cause I think her sister lives at my house. Please help me kick her out and find the bliss that is a Samsung dishwasher. Please?

A new fridge – Samsung RFG297AARS would be amazing! Our smaller side by side fridge doesn’t even have a water dispenser, which means the lower shelf is filled with our refillable water bottles for my family. It looks so sharp in the stainless steel too.

  • 183 Miss Shell // Oct 6, 2009 at 11:37 am

  • 200 Jill B // Oct 6, 2009 at 12:43 pm

Wow! Your new dishwasher is intimidating with all the fanciness! Mine still works, though I can see “storage space” in it’s future. What would change my life is the oven/stove! Mine still has burners that function, most of the time, but the oven is scaring me with it’s inaccurate temperature and wild vacillations between top and bottom rack. Since I bake a lot, I fear the day that nothing happens. The last repair guy said he wouldn’t recommend inviting him back.

  • 201 Janna // Oct 6, 2009 at 12:50 pm

GAH, my fridge!! Scratched in the move, ice maker keeps freezing itself shut, and either my house is haunted or the doors won’t stay shut. MADDENING!

  • 202 Mutt // Oct 6, 2009 at 12:52 pm

I would love so many new things. Our dishwasher is starting to not really clean anything. The fridge has frost growing all over it and it’s not big enough. The oven is ok, but once the dishwasher and fridge are spanking new it will look odd. New appliances – Hurray!

After perusing your review, I’m almost tempted to say dishwasher. I really hate ours; however, our fridge is nearly 15 years old (the dishwasher is only 4) and is more urgently in need of replacing. Still, that’s one sweet appliance you got there.

  • 213 Grace Roberts // Oct 6, 2009 at 1:36 pm

    Definitely the Washer/dryer!

  • 214 Stephanie Johnson // Oct 6, 2009 at 1:48 pm

I could definitly use a dishwasher (DMR78AHS). Washing everything by hand gets old after a while… ok more like a day. =)

I do not have any dishwasher and I would really, really love to buy a Samsung diswasher and give it a safe, happy “forever” home. This would be truly life-changing. Also, I am sucking up here, but truthfully I have to say that Best Buy has some of the best prices on appliances around.

  • 216 Karen // Oct 6, 2009 at 1:54 pm

Our dishwasher has seen better days…then again, so has our oven, fridge and microwave. Does that answer the question?? :)

  • 217 Alexia // Oct 6, 2009 at 1:58 pm

All of my appliances need to be replaced with a Samsung! LOL Okay, seriously? My fridge. I’d love a fridge that’s bigger and where the water and ice machines actually work!

  • 218 charlottalove // Oct 6, 2009 at 2:02 pm

Panic room dishwasher. :o) I’d like a panic room washing machine!

  • 219 Beth // Oct 6, 2009 at 2:15 pm

Does Samsung make electric ranges? Because I need an electric range. We only have 2 burners that work on the stovetop and those heat very unevenly. And also? They tilt so most of the food slides to one side of the pan to burn while a few lonely (RAW) pieces stick to the high side. The oven is even worse. The numbers are all worn off the dial but even if they were there, they would have no correlation to the actual temperature inside the oven. I’m a mediocre cook at best when the appliances are great. You can imagine how bad it is when they suck. So yeah. PLEASE HELP ME!!! :-)

  • 220 halloweenlover // Oct 6, 2009 at 2:15 pm

I have to pick just one? We need a whole slew of machine! Fridge, washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, I could go on and on! That machine is gorgeous!

  • 221 Stephanie // Oct 6, 2009 at 2:37 pm

A gas range. One that won’t trick me into thinking it’s cool so I rest the plastic bits of our coffee maker on it.

Come to think of it, maybe a new coffee maker, too.

    Or just one. Whatev’s.

  • 223 Melanie U // Oct 6, 2009 at 2:45 pm

I would love a new OTR microwave. We just moved to a new house and man I need more counter space! But after reading your post, I would have to consider a new dishwasher also, ours doesn’t fit our dishes and it seems to be on its last leg also!

  • 224 Debra // Oct 6, 2009 at 3:10 pm

  • 231 Liz B. // Oct 6, 2009 at 3:58 pm

Our washing machine is WRETCHED–the cold lines are gunked up or something so barely any cold gets through, and the warm is scalding since there is no cold to temper it. Basically we can do one load per day since it takes so long to fill the machine. If we are in a real hurry, we will fill gallon jugs in the tub and dump them in the washer. When I read this, it makes us sound really pathetic.

  • 232 Cori // Oct 6, 2009 at 4:06 pm

Oh, a washing machine. I would LOVE a new washing machine. Something is amok with it so it only washes with SCALDING hot water. Most of the time I dump a bucket of cold water in there to trick it into thinking that there’s enough water so it won’t use as much SCALDING hot.

  • 233 Jennifer M. // Oct 6, 2009 at 4:15 pm

I would love a new fridge! Mine groans and it’s scary!

  • 234 Jenn // Oct 6, 2009 at 4:16 pm

It would most definitely be a refrigerator. Ours is really old and just awkward. And it runs a little too much…I caught it dripping downstairs so our icemaker has since been shut off. :-)

  • 235 Mfalcon13 // Oct 6, 2009 at 4:33 pm

Either a refrigerator or a range. Probably the range. Everything in the kitchen is sputtering.

  • 239 Amy // Oct 6, 2009 at 4:56 pm

Every time I do a load of laundry I hope my stupid washing machine will die. I hate that machine. It’s only a few years old and there’s nothing wrong with it, it’s just a terrible design and does a terrible job. A chunk of money to buy a new one would certainly be its ticket out of here.

It is easier to name the one appliance I don’t need to replace, the refrigerator, it is only 5 years old. Every other appliance is upwards of 15 years old and on its last legs – I’m just hoping they stagger their demises.

  • 267 Melanie // Oct 6, 2009 at 8:19 pm

Awesome! We need a new dishwasher – our current one is So.Incredibly. Loud.

  • 268 Jenny // Oct 6, 2009 at 8:33 pm

Our dishwasher (which is relatively “new”) sounds like a jet engine, and I’m thinking of hiring a contortionist to figure out the perfect body position for jamming in those pizza pans and cutting boards that juuuuuussssstt won’t fit properly. Oh, and if Samsung can figure out how to get a 15-year-old boy to learn how to LOAD the darn thing, well, BONUS!!

  • 269 Melissa // Oct 6, 2009 at 8:43 pm

We really need a new microwave! We’ve already replaced our fridge and dishwasher in the past couple of years (none as swanky as your Samsung, though), but we can’t drag our crumbling old from-the-’80s Jenn-Air microwave into our soon-to-be remodeled kitchen. Help!

  • 294 Melissa Harris // Oct 7, 2009 at 8:11 am

The washing machine would definitely make my life easier. Our current washing machine came with the house and still works, but it has terrible rusting inside. I found out the hard way that I can’t run a full load in the machine without getting rust stains on everything.

It’s inside all the way around where I can’t reach, so it’s pretty much unfixable. Since the machine still works I can’t justify getting a new one, but a gift card would go a long way toward changing that!

  • 295 Amy // Oct 7, 2009 at 9:11 am

Our dryer is a bazillion years old. That is NOT hyperbole. Most of the time, it takes two cycles to dry a load. I have a five month old baby. I think you could actually call that a laundry situation that would merit calling in the national guard.

  • 296 anne conover // Oct 7, 2009 at 9:11 am

I’d love a new washer (WF448AAP)! My boyfriend and I just moved into a house, which luckily came with a new stove and fridge, but unfortunately the washer and dryer are a little sad looking (and the washer is definitely a little more cruddy than the dryer)! We love our house, but sadly, not our washer. And we wash a fair amount of clothes, even though there’s only two of us…I work two jobs and my part-time job requires a uniform and apron which I’m constantly having to wash! And that looks like the type of washer/dryer I see in the store and drool over, they’re so pretty! Thanks!

We were in desperate need of a new refrigerator at the time and had a new baby and no money so we sold one of our 5 canoes. The man still had 4 canoes but every time he looks at the refrigerator he complains about how much he misses that canoe. Alas, now the refrigerator is old and the railing falls off of one of the door shelves every once in a while covering the floor in bottles of salad dressing and ketchup.

I need the Range/Microwave….my do-do brown 1970’s kitchen appliances have got to go! This would be a great start! Best Buy rocks…Thanks for the chance to win!

  • 332 lynn@human, being // Oct 7, 2009 at 5:15 pm

Picture this: a 1998, 27-inch TV, with four people huddling around it like a bunch of hobos around a burning trash can. One speaker is blown, the top right corner has a weird blue fuzz to it. That’s what I want to replace with a Samsung LCD TV. At Best Buy, because we asked our wedding guests for Best Buy gift cards so they could help us upgrade our TV(s). We’re very close to affording the Samsung that we want–about $200 close.

    :)

I cannot live without our dishwasher. As a working mother of 4, I would spend all day in the kitchen doing dishes without it! Love the review!! It sounds fabulous. Thanks, Angela

  • 334 Sarah Hofhine // Oct 7, 2009 at 6:02 pm

The fridge, for sure. Looks swanky.

  • 335 Rebekah // Oct 7, 2009 at 6:36 pm

Dishwasher (DMR78AHS) would be something I would really like. Right now we don’t have one and that one sounds awesome.

  • 336 Meg // Oct 7, 2009 at 6:41 pm

I’m leaning toward the washer/dryer, but this is appealing too! Our dishwasher isn’t the best, so this would be fantastic too. Can I just say I want it all? :-)

  • 337 Gina // Oct 7, 2009 at 7:01 pm

A new fridge, please! With an ice-maker that works.

  • 338 Cheryl in AL // Oct 7, 2009 at 8:31 pm

I would love to replace my washer and dryer with new front loading machines. We have repaired our 10 year old machines at least three times and I know that the front loaders are more earth friendly.

  • 339 JSWade // Oct 7, 2009 at 8:33 pm

I would like to get the a new refridgerator. Our is about 8 years old but the configuration is horrible. I made the mistake of getting a side by side and cant find anything.

  • 340 Hedda // Oct 7, 2009 at 8:33 pm

My washer is so old it may as well be one of those old hand cranked wringer things, so yeah, a washing machine.

  • 341 Amy // Oct 7, 2009 at 8:37 pm

I’m totally in love with your dishwasher! Mine is probably 20 years old with several of the tines missing and a few others are rusted and about to break off. There’s something that looks like lint clogging up the sprayer holes and I can only fit 4 of my dinner plates in at a time because they are too tall – adjustable racks sound like a dream!

  • 342 Marianne // Oct 7, 2009 at 9:16 pm

That dishwasher practically loads itself. My dad is the dish maven in our family and he’d be in heaven with this. Not to mention that he could watch tv while the dishwasher ran instead of trying to remember to start it later in the evening.

  • 343 Karen // Oct 7, 2009 at 10:09 pm

Oh, the Dishwasher(DMR78AHS) would be a lifesaver – I’m in nursing school and I just don’t always have time to get the dishes done – and I don’t currently have a dishwasher other than my own two arms. :) Thanks for this! Karen

  • 344 Jayne // Oct 7, 2009 at 10:24 pm

Washer (WF448AAP) would be my pick. Thanks!

  • 347 Sarah Semmelman // Oct 7, 2009 at 11:11 pm

Oh gosh – certainly a fridge or a dishwasher! Both of the reviews have convinced me that my appliances in this area are not up to par!

  • 348 Deb on the Rocks // Oct 8, 2009 at 12:31 am

My drier is not fixing herself either. I actually had a microwave once fix itself, so I tend to believe in appliance miracles. Repair people also make me very anxious. So I think the drier is just going through an eco-hippy phase and may come around to wasting energy again for me. Otherwise, she’s going to the landfill, and how is that good for the planet? I’m going to go tell her that.

  • 349 ShootingStarsMag // Oct 8, 2009 at 12:48 am

  • 364 Kristina // Oct 8, 2009 at 1:24 pm

  • 367 Caitlin P // Oct 8, 2009 at 2:40 pm

Definitely a new dryer! (Dryer (DV448AEP))
Ours is broken — when you try to dry clothes, the machine makes a terrible noise (something’s wrong with the belt). Plus, it doesn’t dry clothes anymore; the most important job a dryer can do!
Our dryer came with the new house, and it’s probably 10 years or older. A new dryer would be such a treat! :)

  • 377 Sarah // Oct 8, 2009 at 6:57 pm

For me, the electric range would make my life much easier!
The range we have right now has two larger eyes and two smaller ones, with one of the larger ones not working at all. The range is the original that came with the house (built in the early 80’s) so it would be so nice to get a nice replacement!
For now…I just skip cooking on that eye and hope the smaller ones continue to work!

  • 390 Karen // Oct 9, 2009 at 12:25 am

I probably shouldn’t admit in public that I’ve fallen for a kitchen appliance, but I can’t help myself. I’m in love with an oven, and I want it so bad! My oven has coils with nasty metal dishes underneath to catch the crumbs. It always looks dirty, even when it’s clean, and it’s so slow to heat! I love to cook, but with a bad oven, it’s almost more headache than it’s worth.

  • 391 Jennifer P // Oct 9, 2009 at 6:22 am

  • 404 Kristen M // Oct 9, 2009 at 12:44 pm

It’s a toss-up between a dishwasher and a refrigerator. Although, technically I can wash dishes by hand and can’t keep food cold using any part of my body. So I should say refrigerator, but I’d love a new dishwasher, too!

  • 405 Angela at mommy bytes // Oct 9, 2009 at 1:39 pm

It’s not so much that I “would love” a new range/oven … it’s that I absolutely cannot cook or live without one. We bought our house in July. A six year old house, but the appliances? Shot. The burners on the 6-year old oven were rusted all to hell. So, I threw them out. Now, we need new burners – so they were purchased, but also do not work/set in the tray very well. Needless to say, if it can’t be baked or nuked, we don’t eat it in our house right now. I haven’t been able to sautee or fry anything in MONTHS!!

Defnitely the fridge! (RFG297AARS) I am a single mom of 2 and the fridge I have is the one my parents had when I was growing up so that will tell you how old it is! The ice maker hasn’t worked since before I had it, water thing on front doesn’t work, the fruit & veggie drawers inside are broken so they don’t sit on the rails..lol I could go on! But alas it does keep the food cold and I just can’t afford a new fridge. :(

I suspect it will happen in the dead of this winter, while my husband is out of town.

I would say a shiny new fridge but what I need most is the Range Electric (FTQ387LWGX). I need a range because my stove has a mind of its own and I cannot bake. With all the heartache I have had this year ,I just didn’t put it top on my list! So everything I make is on the stovetop. I love to bake and with the holidays comming up I will be lost. A shiny $200.Best Buy card could go towards this wonderful new range and make my holiday wish come true!

I live in a tiny NYC studio, so I’m in a strange situation. I have no room for a normal sized range, dishwasher, or refrigerator, and no room for a W/D at all!! I’d have to get the microwave, which I’ve learned I can live without, but it’d be nice to pop some popcorn sometimes!

I am married and have two teenage boys…needless to say my dishwasher gets ran constantly. Not having to wash my dishes before I actually put them in my dishwasher would be a great plus, also!

  • 485 Wendy Bumpus // Oct 13, 2009 at 2:07 pm

Oh my my my how I would love to have a new….anything! I have a nice functioning refrigerator ($85 at a garage sale, HOLLA!), so that would not be priority, I guess. Let’s see, next thing to replace would be….dum da da dum…The Kelvinator. Yes, my avocado green oven, previously owned by my awesome Great Grandmommie. It’s cool to cook where she did (I could only hope to cook as GOOD as she did) but let’s just say The Kelvinator has ISSUES. Moving right along, Washer and Dryer. Dryer’s decent, I’ll keep it…but he Washer is a third hand handme down and is currently inhabiting the recesses of our storage unit because of the water leaking/burning smell problems it was having when we moved last. So yeah, I need a washer. Bad. And then I’ll need a matching dryer. Mmm Hmmm. and then, because my laundry area is die-rectly next to my oven, The Kelvinator’s gonna look pretty shabby, so we’ll need the new oven as well, and therefore the Garage Sale fridge would need to go through the Garage Sale ringer again to make room for a brand spankin new matching fridge….Then there’s the fact that I don’t have a dishwasher AT ALL…and nowhere to put one if I did, so we might just have to do a total kitchen remodel….

Wow, think I got a bit carried away by the excitement. I’ll settle for any beautiful Samsung appliance (WASHER!!! WASHER!!! WASHER!!!) and the Kelvinator will just have to keep chugging along in his Avocado glory…

    I love your reviews. Really.

Appliance replacements in my house? Blindfold yourself in the kitchen, I’ll spin you around, and blindly pin the $200 gift card any appliance. They’re all less than ideal. But, if I were forced to pick just one, I’d say the elf oven since it doesn’t even hold a regular size cookie tray. Yes, it’s sad, isn’t it? We’re a cookie-less house. Help us have cookies.

  • 501 Suebee // Oct 14, 2009 at 3:44 pm

I’d have to go with the dishwasher. Ours has developed the annoying habit of spronging the soap tray open when the water level is decreasing, leaving soap residue on all the dishes. For a while I thought I was using too much soap or too little soap or that the dang machine would magically fix itself but now I’ve given up and am washing the dishes by hand. With a husband, two kids, a house, a job and a meager social life, I can think of many, many things I’d rather be doing that being elbows-deep in suds.

  • 502 LRM // Oct 14, 2009 at 6:17 pm

My washer smells…offensive. I cannot get the stink out. I have to get all the clothes out of it within about 35 seconds of the cycle ending or all the family’s clothes get the funk.

I would love to have Dishwasher (DMR78AHS). We are renovating a very old home, three kids, three dogs, two cats, two birds, 15 chickens. I stay home and cook from scratch, every day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lots and lots of DISHES. No dishwasher. At all. We’ve been considering a countertop dishwasher, simply because we cannot afford a full sized one on our tight budget. And I am so busy without our homestead and home schooling (one teen in high school and another almost ready for four year old kindergarten) that dishes just add to time I could be spending writing or playing with the kids and animals. So, this gift card could really make my Christmas!!!

  • 528 LeahW. // Oct 16, 2009 at 9:29 am

Having just moved into an apartment which contains my FIRST DISHWASHER OF MY VERY OWN, I have to say the last step in appliance nirvana would be a washer/dryer in my apartment. I’ve had washer/dryers in the building that I had to share with my neighbors, leading to “it’s been two hours do I just take their wet laundry out and do mine?” dilemmas. Plus, I had to pay for it. I did the laundromat, which meant I could wash all my clothing at once but cost more and meant I had to sit there and watch it spin for an hour-and-a-half. When the laundromat near my apartment went out of business, the next closest was particularly ghetto-tastic that never fixed their machines when they broke, leading to a smaller and smaller supply the longer I went there. I would absolutely love to be able to do my apartment for free and at my leisure! One day, one day….

I love the fact that this dishwasher has controls on the top of the door where little hands can’t reach it while it is operating! My kids like to think our dishwasher is one of their toys. And I still can’t seem to tell when our current dishwasher will be done cleaning, so a timer is a great bonus! I love this dishwasher. jgeertsma at gmail dot com

oh my, what a blessing! I would love a new washer and dryer…the washer being the most wanted…they are so energy and water efficient now!!! mine uses 19 gal of water each cycle (and then you add how much soap, etc, goes into 19 gallons to actually wash)…and i do at least 2 loads a day, plus about 6 on the weekend!

I would so love a new washer. Or a dryer. These guys were old and cruddy when I bought the house, and I wanted to replace them then. But I HAD to replace the stove. Then the fridge. Then the dishwasher. One by one, they’ve all been replaced, until all that’s left is the old ugly ones. . . and I’ve already been eyeing the Samsung models anyway. . .

  • 582 Nina // Oct 21, 2009 at 4:21 pm

The Range Electric (FTQ387LWGX) is the one for me. Looks so nice and easy to keep clean. The dishwasher would be great for my office. The one we have is quiet & cleans well, but it’s just too small.

boy, could i give you a shopping list… our dishwasher works, but i would love to have something more efficient. our tv is also old (pre-digital) and is currently suffering the indignities of using a cable converter box. needless to say we could use a new tv too. in other words: name an appliance and we would happily replace it with a samsung!

My mother swears that there is such a thing as longevity when it comes to appliances. I, however, disagree. The house we live in was built in the 1930’s give or take. The appliances were upgraded in the early 80’s. The dishwasher is now used as storage because my mother is convinced the good lord made children so when the dishwasher was broken we could substitute. I’m back home because, oh this economy is awesome, and at 31, i’m the dishwasher. For the love of everything JetDry…I would love a new dishwasher.

  • 683 Stephanie V // Oct 24, 2009 at 9:54 pm

Oh the refrigerator! wow – would really make our family happy. Haven’t worked since March (just like many families) and our old refrig was bought red tag “distressed” and is making horrible sounds and started leaking. Just know it is on its last leg. RFG298AARS (29 cu. ft. stainless) – now there’s a beauty! Maybe all the kids could actually have room for their favorite foods all the time. Satisfied stomach = happy kids = harmony in family.

A new dishwasher would delight my husband and I. my little kitchen faces on the family room and I can’t run the dishwasher while anyone is talking or watching tv because it is just too noisy. I can’t run it while we sleep because I can’t depend on the detergent door to open…I have to listen for it and check so it doesn’t do the whole load before I realize it did it without detergent. And of course it isn’t anywhere near energy star compliant…

I would use it towards the LN32B550 32″ 1080p LCD HDTV. I still have a regular tube screen television and have to use a converter box. It would be great to have a digital picture and use less electricity.

  • 834 Lynn P.O. // Nov 1, 2009 at 11:25 pm

I’d low a new range! Currently I use a propane range – 4 burners and a gas oven. I like the gas cook top but the propane burns so very hot that cooking on low or simmering is nearly impossible. The heat in the gas oven also seems tempermental (pun intended..) and broiling is impossible. Some goof ball put the broiler on the very bottom of the oven.

  • 857 flatflo // Nov 5, 2009 at 12:42 pm

An oven that would actually fit a half sheet pan would be nice, but then I would have to completely reconfigure (and update!) the kitchen, so that one is on the back burner (hah!) I am also lusting after the dishwasher you have so Vanna-ishly displayed. But first on our list is a new flat tv, and Samsung is definitely one of the brands I am considering, as they get great ratings and I love the new energy efficient models. Everything new in our house is about higher efficiency these days!

Hi, the Samsung Washer & Dryer would bring the most ease in my household as my old dryer sounds like a plane taking off, I know that there is something wrong with it and on it’s last leg and my washer is about 14 years old and I don’t know how much life is left in that. The closest laundramat near me is a good 30 minutes away, so it would be a real time waster to have to go there. Thanks for a great giveaway!

Are you kidding me?! That dishwasher looks gorgeous! I am so jealous of you. :) While we have a dishwasher, I do the dishes by hand. Except when I’m feeling lazy, then I put them in the dishwasher. And upon opening it after they are “clean”, I remember why I do the dishes by hand. More than half of the dishes are not clean. The top rack always gets some type of sand stuck to the inside of glasses and little bowls. Yes, sand…or something like it. We use liquid detergent, so I have no idea what it’s from. So, to put it simply, I would put the gift card toward a new dishwasher. :)

Since my dishes are not coming out clean, I would have to say that a new Samsung Dishwasher would make my life much much better.

  • 937 Carla // Nov 13, 2009 at 3:25 pm

I could really use a dishwasher, as I haven’t had one in years, and I could stop washing dishes by hand.

  • 938 Michelle // Nov 13, 2009 at 4:06 pm

To make my life better, the one kitchen appliance I’d most like to replace is my… REFRIGERATOR!! Seriously! It’s a half-and-half, so the freezer is way too small for all the cooking ahead I like to do. The light has burnt out. Sometimes if the freezer is too full the door will swing open in the middle of the night and everything will melt and be ruined. I badly need a new fridge and Samsung sounds PERFECT! THANKS! –Michelle, blogattoday[-at]gmaildotcom

My live would be made easier with the Fridge (RFG297AARS). Ours is so old and small. It gets the job done, but poorly and inefficiently.

  • 940 Sara Tucholsky // Nov 13, 2009 at 4:30 pm

I would love a new refrigerator…ours is noisy!

  • 941 Matthew Meisenhelder // Nov 13, 2009 at 4:32 pm

i want to replace out rickety old dishwasher with a samsung, we have mended it about 5 times, but it keeps breaking!!!

  • 942 Wendy Briere // Nov 13, 2009 at 5:08 pm

My dryer needs to be replaced because it burned up, almost starting a house fire!

  • 943 autie // Nov 13, 2009 at 5:23 pm

The dryer! Our dryer takes almost as long to cool down as it does to dry!

  • 944 Deb K // Nov 13, 2009 at 5:33 pm

I dream daily about having a new washing machine. It’s over 24 years old and beyond being on its last legs!

  • 945 Happi Shopr // Nov 13, 2009 at 7:26 pm

I would love to have a new washing machine. Ours have quit wringning out and emptying fully after each load so I do it by hand.

  • 946 Coleen Linacre // Nov 13, 2009 at 7:47 pm

I definitely need a new dishwasher.

  • 947 ER // Nov 13, 2009 at 10:42 pm

I need a washer I have never had one! I’ve always had to go the laundry mat.

  • 948 brooke // Nov 13, 2009 at 10:44 pm

Washer and dryer would make my life soooo much easier or atleast more stress free…

  • 949 Ashley // Nov 13, 2009 at 11:49 pm

The dishwasher would be wonderful. Our “super quiet” Whirlpool is sadly not as “super quiet” as it used to be, and we need more capacity for our growing family.

  • 950 Daniel M // Nov 14, 2009 at 12:02 am

we could really use a new washer/dryer, ours aren’t that great

  • 951 Christie // Nov 14, 2009 at 2:10 am

  • 952 Sonya // Nov 14, 2009 at 2:25 am

I desperately need a new Samsung dryer! My hubby has repaired our current dryer twice in the past couple of years and I’m not sure it can be fixed again!

  • 953 Cole Sifferlen // Nov 14, 2009 at 3:22 am

A nice coffee maker would be great!

our washer needs to be replaced so badly, it leaves oil stains on all of our clothes.

  • 961 Jennifer Hedden // Nov 14, 2009 at 10:38 am

We could use a new washer

  • 962 Molly K // Nov 14, 2009 at 11:18 am

I would love a new dishwasher. We practically have to wash our dishes before we put them in ours or they don’t get clean.

  • 963 Kathleen Poling // Nov 14, 2009 at 11:22 am

Oh my heavens we could use a new washing machine! We’re a home washing cloth diaper family (what’s good for the environment happens to be good for both the baby’s behind and the parent’s bank account) and our old washing machine is starting to sound… old. A new one would be nice before it breaks, not after. Especially since I HATE disposable diapers (and everyone else hates hearing me grumble that I’m wasting 30 cents on plastic every time I use one).

A new, quiet, energy efficient frig that doesn’t talk back (I swear the thing hisses at me) would be wonderful especially with the holidays coming up.

Fridge-our is old and not Energystar approved. The freezer compartment is very small. The door holder is broken so I can’t put products in the door. The veggie tray is cracked.

  • 979 katiea // Nov 14, 2009 at 2:28 pm

A new dishwasher would be my appliance of choice. Those make life so much easier (or so I’ve heard). A gift card would also be nice. Those also make life so much easier (or so I’ve heard). :)
