Last night I went to a taco slash cupcake gathering and it was just as amazing and fun as it sounds, and when I returned home I found this picture (created on the computer by Harper) sitting on top of my knitting.
As if I wasn’t feeling warm and fuzzy enough, this put me right over the top.
This morning I thanked Harper for the gift.
Me: Harper?
Harp: Yep?
Me: I really love the Mom picture you made for me last night.
Harp: What Mom picture?
Me (holding up the Mom picture): This Mom picture. AND, I love that you wrote “i Love You MommY” across the bottom.
Harp: Oh. Well. Mommy?
Me: Yes?
Harp: I didn’t make that for you. It’s not yours.

Ha! Of course, it’s for her other mother. How silly of you to assume…
Have you seen the Mason Dixon “Pardon Me, I didn’t knit that for you” song?
Also – if it’s not for you, why is it on top of YOUR knitting?!
How. Embarrassing.
So did you ask Harper who it was meant for?
Oh that is really excellent!
Ack, the cliffhanger…. Who was it for? It is very pretty though.
Maybe you weren’t supposed to confront her about it… you know, outward displays of emotion make a lot of people uncomfortable. You were just supposed to smile and go about your business – she totally meant it, you know.
At our house the other night one of my sons said, “Mommy, I love you.” I replied, “I love you too, Honey.” He follwed up, “But I love Papa more. I hope that’s okay.” Of course it is.
So….who in the heck is it for?
p.s. You’re so right. The taco/cupcake meeting was incredible. Given a few more hours we could have solved all the worlds problems with laughter, tequila, chocolate and owl coozies!
